Spirit of Family

spirit of family River Town Paranormal Society experienced an amazing event yesterday that is so fitting into this holiday season that we would like to share it with our readers. We have been trying to finish up an investigation of a home in Clayton, Illinois, where the family has experienced much activitiy. They were not comfortable living in the home with doors slamming, chairs moving, items being moved across rooms and the overall feeling of something watching them. Our investigation of the h… Continue

Streets of Fear - Ghost Hollow Road - FEARNet Source: www.fearnet.com When the mist rises from the old creek on a fall morning, it sure can get creepy along Ghost Hollow Road. Oh, and it’s haunted by an eerie woman in white who disappears into thin air. Continue

The hounds of Athens

The Hounds of Athens On September 26th, our team investigated an old battlefield in Athens Missouri. The area is tucked away in a remote hollow surrounded by fields, a river and lots of wooded areas. The battlefield itself and homes are kept up with great care, although they are old and worn. There is a house tucked away in a remote spot of this property called the cannonball house because during the battle a cannonball was shot through the house, going all the way through the house and exiting… Continue

rolling ball

Sensitivity plays a role in our groups investigations. Other groups do not believe and would attack our techniques. Which set of tactics for an investigation used doesnt really matter. The end results are the same. Saturday night the group did an investigation at the Woodland Cemetery mausoleum. There have been other Paranormal groups investigate this site with some results. The team went in to find out if we could get some of the same findings. We did not. There has been a story told that a l… Continue

Villa Kathrine pt3 (May 9, 2009)

After finding all our EVP evidence we decided to do more research into the German woman's voice. Our research did show that someone besides Mr George Metz lived in the Villa Kathrine at one time and this will be revealed at a later point just as most of our EVP's will, on our groups website which is still under construction. It is all very important research into understanding George Metz and the life he may have lived even though none will never really know for sure, unless he tells us, *wink*.… Continue

Villa Kathrine pt2 (May 9, 2009)

The TV shows portray ghost hunting as exciting, thrilling experiences that pump up the adrenaline and make everyone scream. The really good ghost hunting shows portray ghost hunting as a lot of work, organization and analysis. This is the true portrayal of investigating haunted locations. We have 7 group members and each of us have spent at least 50 hours a piece in our free time pouring over audio and video recordings and researching historical archives. If you get bored easily this is not for… Continue

Villa Kathrine (May 9, 2009)

What the River Town Paranormal Society is about to reveal you comes from the heart. It began from the head, from our desire to research and debunk the haunting of a local historical landmark, a castle on the bluffs of the mighty Mississippi River where no castle should be. This is not any castle , this is a Moorish Castle, built to resemble the Moorish architecture from the turn of the 20th century. At a time when German settlers were busy building breweries and churches, one man's vision to bui… Continue

Welcoming our new member!

Through this myspace site we have met a woman who is as interested in paranormal acitivity as we are! We have met with her twice now and know that she has the same goals and ambitions as our team so we overwhelmingly voted her in as a new member this past Sunday. RTPS wants to welcome Teri Mosby to our group. Teri hasn't belonged to an organized group but has been working with Brother Ed from Quincy University and other local folks who have been exploring cemeteries and delapitated buidlings in… Continue

PI's beware, you may be burned at the stake!

This is 2009 right? Let me go check the calendar, will be right back........yep that's what it says! After our recent experience this past Friday we could swear we were living in the year 1850. We read everyone's books, posts and stories about how hard it is to find people to let you come in and investigate but what we came across Friday really blew us away. I guess we shouldn't be surprised, we have run into lots of religious folks who think our investigating is one step away from paganism, wit… Continue

At a crossroad

July 5, 2009 - Sunday It's been a slow week for RTPS, what a blessing. We have been trying to learn new programs, set up a new website, research new possible investigations. Just like many of our friends in the paranormal field, you find that a whole day can come and go when you are working on all of this. It is exhausting work but what other job can one do where they do not get paid yet reap so many rewards? The networking with paranormal communities provides us with an black hole of informatio… Continue

The Old Missouri Cemetary

The Old Missouri Cemetery Category: Blogging On May 23rd, 2009 River Town Paranormal Society did an evening investigation of the Old Missouri Cemetery. It was the last investigation the original team did together, we regret to say. As in many areas of the country you have locations that were split in half before the civil war, during the civil war and still after the civil war. It was a necessary but gruesome time in the history of our beloved country. Our tri-state area is one of those areas… Continue

So what do we think it says???????

What do we think our evp from the Old Cemetery says??? We believe it says "Ol' Barry the digger" or something a little more sinister that we will not post here. It was the clearest evp we picked up at the cemetery although we do have a response to a question later on in the night. We are trying to coordinate our digital recorder to our video recorder to see if the response is the same on both. The "Ol' Barry the digger" evp was played for a sensitive we know. He is a respectable sensitive who ke… Continue
